NIHR Health and Social Care Delivery Research Webinar

A free informative national webinar, hosted by the NIHR Research Design Service (RDS), highlighting the NIHR Health and Social Care Delivery Research (HSDR) funding programme.

Speakers for the webinar include:

• the Director of RDS East of England (RDS EoE), who will talk about the help available for applicants
• a Programme Manager from the HSDR team, who will give an overview of the HSDR remit
• a former HSDR panel member, who will speak about what the panel are looking for in an application
• two current HSDR grant holders, who will describes their studies

We hope this informative session will provide an insight into the funding stream and support those who are currently preparing bids for submission.

The NIHR Research Design Service (RDS), Health Data Research UK (HDR UK), the MRC Regulatory Support Centre and NHS Digital are pleased to offer the opportunity to attend the sixth in a series of virtual researcher roadshows.

This free to attend event is aimed at researchers and others working with health and social care datasets who would like to increase their understanding of roles of health data scientists and value of health data science.

The event will bring together health data scientists from the NHS, academia, and industry and provide insights and perspectives on the important work they do.

This event will include presentations on different roles and careers in health data science and different methods and approaches used by health data scientists.

An online masterclass for anyone thinking of applying for a health or social care research grant, either from the NIHR or from other open, competitive, peer reviewed sources of funding.

The masterclass will focus on how to sell your research idea by:

• understanding what reviewers are looking for in an application
• making your research idea clear and compelling to reviewers
• writing a convincing application with a good structure, flow and argument
• presenting a strong methods section, including statistical, qualitative, health economics and patient and public involvement (PPI) elements
• having a good project plan
• engaging with sources of external support for your research
• showing careful consideration of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI)
• showing you have thought sensibly about dissemination and the impact of your work

Optional one-to-one sessions with NIHR Research Design Service (RDS) advisers will be available so you can discuss your own research idea with experienced methodologists and facilitator.

This event is open to UK-based healthcare professionals, social care and public health practitioners, health researchers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who are intending to apply to any NIHR or other open, competitive, peer reviewed health or social care funding programme in the 12 months following the masterclass.
